hey.. i already posted in the amipregnant community, but i saw your response to a similar question and it was so friendly that i decided to post mine. i'm completely spazzing.. about a week after my last period i had unprotected sex for maybe 2 minutes, no ejaculation.. now my boyfriend is in the hospital and i won't be able to talk to him for a while, my parents aren't talking to each other, finals are coming up in school and there's so much pressure, i've been really stressed for countless other reasons.. but my period's never been affected by stress, and now it's a day late and i'm so, so worried. i can even see my belly protruding out and aahh. how normal is it for a period to be delayed by stress? i'm sooo scared to the point that i can't think about anything else. (yes, definitely overreacting.) also, what are the chances, really, that i'm pregnant?
thank you..

Your chances are fairly low, and your uterus wouldn't be protruding so early.

Can you take a pregnancy test? That's the quickest way to ease your nerves. It sounds like stress is getting to you, and with good reason; you have a lot on your plate.

Take a deep breath, and work through everything one step at a time. :-)

dont worry about it, really, you are not pregnant, and stress can delay things

Worrying that you are pregnant can delay your menses as well. Get a pregnancy test and then you won't have to worry any more.

I've been in a similar situation so here are some things to consider...

Being ONE day late isn't really abnormal. It may be for you, but as nice as it might be for now, you can't really count on your cycle to NEVER change. Some women are regular like clockwork for YEARS and then one day their cycles change for no reason at all.

Now, if this is just adding too much stress for you to bear, by all means take an EPT test, but for me those are kind expensive (and carry a high risk of freaking my mom out by her finding the wrappings) SO I would wait at least a week before going that route. I don't think those are totally accurate until a week after the sexual encounter anyhow, so there's little point in trying that just yet.

It's totally possible that you've stressed yourself out (between your bf & school & life in general) to the point that your body has gone off-course. Now you're stressing MORE because it's late, and you can kinda see where I'm going when I say that you're creating a vicious little cycle. (late period = stress = even later period = more stress, etc etc)

Just relax and remind yourself that no matter what the outcome is, there's nothing you can do about it RIGHT at this moment and until you know, you might as well relax as best as you can in hopes that this catch 22 wont continue.
