I have questions/thoughts about Birth Control..

I never been on birth control, not a virgin, and sexually active in a serious relationship. I at times use contraceptives. I am afraid to go on birth control because I do want to have a child one day, and I have heard that some women were not able to have children after they stopped using birth control.

If I made the choice of using birth control, is there any birth control pills that I should watch out for?

Does anyone have good resources, or know of any kind of birth control that is unhealthy or good to one?

OMG that rumor is so not true. You should really read up on bc pills. If you decided to go that route your dr will be able to best decided what pill is right for you.

You should talk with your doc. They will know what to recommend for you based on your weight, health history, blood pressure, etc.

I don't know anyone who couldn't get pregnant after going off the pill. I have been on them nearly ten years and have been assured by my doc (barring any other issues) that I should have no trouble getting pg once I decide the quit the pill.

While hormonal birth control didn't work well for me, it isn't the terror you seem to have been told it is.

The only potential "problem" in terms of conception after stopping birth control is that it may take a couple months to a year (depending upon how long you were on BCP) for your body to start ovulating again. MAY is the key word... you might be able to get pregnant the next month, so don't count on it taking time if you stop taking the pills... but don't worry if it takes a few months to get pregnant after you stop taking the pills and you start actively trying to get pregnant.

i would contact planned parenthood... they have good, up-to-date information about all the current forms of birthcontrol, hormonal and non.

But not using a barrier like a condom every time you have sex - it leaves you at risk for diseases that BCP's won't stop. Unless you and your partner have been tested for STD's (including HIV and Hep A and B)- and both came out negative - and both are exclusively monogamous- , pregnancy is probably the least of your concerns.

if your down with hormonal birth control, and pretty comfy with your body, i would suggest the nuva ring over pills actually. when i was on birth control i really really liked it.
