Jul. 6th, 2004 10:12 amOk.. couple questions. If there is another community that I should be posting in then lead me there.. thank you in advance for your help!
My boyfriend and I had sex tonight.. and I realized that I started my period after. I must have started before because he had blood in the condom. (We start without a condom and then put one on)
Is that bad? Okay? Should I be worried? Thank you again.

Date: 2004-07-06 09:47 am (UTC)unprotected oral sex or anal sex
unsafe tattoos or piercings
itravenous drug use
(Trichomoniasis can be even be spread by mutual masturbation or sharing sex toys.)
I'm not saying any of these would apply to you, (how could I? I don't know you), but my point is that while you were a virgin, there is still a possibility that you had an STD. Also, I notice you did not say the guy was a virgin before you. Can you be absolutely sure that he has no STDs?
Even if you are both STD-free, starting with a condom off and then putting it on mid-intercourse wrecks its effectiveness and you could get pregnant.
I'm not going to say that there is no point in using a method if it isn't used correctly, because a condom during some of intercourse is better than no condom at all. But this is ONLY if you realize you are putting yourself at risk for pregnancy and are willing to take that risk. Condoms lose their reliability when used incorrectly.
If there is some reason that the two of you would rather not use a condom, then I suggest you both get checked for STDs and switch to a different method (hormonal birth control, diaphragm, etc.)
