So, for the approximate 10 years that I've had my period now, it has always been fairly regular -- 28 day cycle, 5 day periods. I've never experienced a change from this that was larger than a day or so, until this month. Right now, I am on the 9th day of my period. It hasn't been lighter than usual or anything like that, it's just lasting a hell of a lot longer. Any ideas what could be causing this, and should I be worried?

Thank you!

Yeah there's a slight possiblilty that it could be the black death (again, only kidding). But it's more likely that you've made some drastic change in your otherwise normal eating/exercising/sleeping/stressing habits and that could be a cause of it. I wouldn't worry too much for now, but when next month rolls around, start looking for signs that things might be abnormal this time around when you'd normally be PMSing. Pay attention to the severity of your cramps, the way you're eating or dieting or whatever...then if things STILL don't seem to add up, stop in & see your doc.
