Hey everyone... I was wondering if anyone uses Depo and if you've ever experienced problems with it. I am debating starting on it because a few months ago I quit taking Ortho-Tricyclen because it was causing me to stay nauseated. One of my friends got her first shot today and I don't really want to wait and see how well it turns out. I'm ready to start now if it's safe. Any suggestions welcome.

Date: 2001-08-28 05:21 am (UTC)Some people I know have had problems with weird mood swings and loss of libido or things like that. You'll want to read up on it before you make your final decision. Try this article (http://my.webmd.com/content/article/1689.50129) or this article (http://my.webmd.com/content/article/1680.50966) for some information, and try searching some of the more reputable medical websites for more. I read everything I could get my hands on, and by the time I got to my appointment for my first shot, I already knew everything my doctor told me about it.
Good luck with your decision!

And I coudln't take it. My doctor told me that it was possible that I could stop the spotting if I tried another shot, but it was also possible that I'd continue to spot.
Sorry, but that was driving me crazy. I never went back for another shot.

I did gain 30 pounds though.... lucky for me, I'm very tall and I was very thin. Still- it's a bitch of a side effect.
