Hey everyone, I'm going to do the birth control thing.
I'm pretty sure I want to do the patch.
I've talked to my doctor about it and once I stop bleeding for this month (should stop today) she's going to hook me up, BUT before I dive into that...

has anyone here actually used the patch? Have you had any problems with it? Would you recommend the pill over it (keep in mind I will most likely forget to take the pill which is why I chose the patch over the pill) or any strange symptoms?

Comments from people who have used or are using it would be greatly appreciated!

Thx in advance.

my main problem with the patch was the sticky stuff it leaves on your skin. that, for me, balanced out the convenience of not having to take a pill every day.

i ended up switching back to the pill because i started to get nausea every time i put a new patch on. but every woman is different, and it worked for me for a long time before the nausea started.

Recent events notwithstanding (since they are my own fault) I love the Patch.

It isn't even an option for me... it isn't good for those over 180 pounds. Of course, i do poorly on hormones anyway, but even if i could, i couldn't. Oh... i give up. :) Good luck!

I was not happy with the patch. I found that it didn't stay on reliably (I had one actually peel all the way off, and all of them peeled at the corners), and I hated the nasty band-aid ring of black shit. Plus, I just didn't like having something stuck to me all the time. I went back to the pill very quickly. I've since changed to the NuvaRing, which is almost completely awesome.

I am on the patch and I like it. I had to stop using depo because of fibroids and I had laready used pills and they made me sick. I like it a lot. I have on occasion skipped my period by applying the next months patches right away instead of leaving it off for a week to bleed (like for my wedding!).

The only problem (and its not really a problem) is the band aid sticky residue stuff that it leaves behind. But I don't normally go swimming or have baths. And if I put it on my inside hip and the edge of it is where my underwear hits then it sometimes sticks to my underwear and peels off a bit *but* I know that now and try to position it differently which usually works great.

I am on the pill and my good friend is on the patch. I haven't gained any wait, she's gained about 15 pounds. She was once very skinny..hah. Also, I had a family member on the patch, using it correctly, and they became pregnant.
Also, you can't just put the patch anywhere. It had 4 specific spots. ONLY. which you must rotate. I would hate to want to go to the beach one day , and it just happened to be the day where that huge ugly obvious b.c. patch was on the shoulder or hip bone..
