Worst. Period. EVER!

I am on Seasonale and I only get my period every three months and this month it is AWFUL! Horrible cramps, headaches, and the heaviest flow I have had since before starting BCP ten years ago! Today is day 4 already and I'm so uncomfortable - I just want it to be OVER!!!

(sorry for whining, but my husband is tired of hearing it)

i know you're hurting, but can i ask: how long have you been on seasonale and is it worse than other BC pills or patches you've tried? i'm thinking of switching because 4 periods a year sounds great, but i'm worried i'll have waay worse side-effects.

p.s. it's nothing urgent, so focus on feeling better before you worry about replying :)

I have been on Seasonale since Feb. of this year. It's been a whacky 7 months. The first 3 were crummy due to breakthrough bleeding, spotting and cramps. I also gained weight and have had major skin problems (pimples and breakouts) that I never had on any other pill. I had to go to the dermotologist to get a prescription it go so bad!
I kept going on it because I heard the first 3 months are rough, but the second three months weren't so hot either. Less BTB, still spotting, still had bad skin.
I love the idea of having a period only 4 times a year, but not if they are like this one. Everyone reacts differently - I have heard people who have loved it and people with even worse war stories than mine.
This is my last prescription and then I go back to the ob/gyn for my annual and I will discuss this with her then. She may want me to go to something else.

I'm on the patch and if I skip my period and go straight to my next month of patches my next period is terrible. I tried depo and I tried using my BCP's so that i would only get my period every 2-3 months. Neither really worked. I have so much tissue in me (due to fibroids) that I just need to bleed every month. Maybe you are like that too ...? My Dr says it happens with some people even if they don't have fibroids, like her :) Sorry to hear of your troubles, maybe someone else can be more encouraging!
