I'm sorry I crossposted this like a mofo... I just want as much input as possible.

Here's what's going on:

I was on Ovcon-35 for some time, but then began spotting (which was mainly due to the fact that I wasn't taking the pills at regular intervals) so my doctor decided to switch me onto Yasmin. I gave it a try for about four months and it made me sick as hell. I constantly had an upset stomach and my periods were absolute hell.

My mum and I discussed it, and decided to give good old Ovcon a try again, thinking if I remained regular I would have more success. I'm a Sunday starter, and this is day two of my second week back on it. I'm experiencing some cramping and light bleeding/tinted discharge and I'm curious about what's up.

I've skipped my last two periods, which my doctor has approved before, and I'm wondering if this is simply my body's way of lashing out at me, hah. How long should I expect this to last... and does anyone know why this is happening? I'm just worried this pill won't work and I'll need to switch AGAIN :(

Thank you all very much in advance for any advice you can give. Everyone on here always comes through for me even if I don't post very often. You guys are lifesavers.

If you skip a couple of periods, you can get break thru bleeding, and you mentioned that you have skipped two periods. It may be that after you've finished the pack and given your body a chance to have a period, you may be fine. Or, this could be your body adjusting to the new pill. The adjustment period for hormonal birth control is 1-3 months. If you're taking your pills on time and not missing any and you're still spotting after three months, you would probably want to see a doctor about trying a different pill.

the 2 docs i've been to have both told me to expect some breakthrough bleeding and irregularities whenever you switch birth control. it's supposed to take about 3 months to really get your system used to it.
a while back i switched from ortho tri-cyclene to a generic brand and had some weird breakthrough bleeding which i'd never had on the ortho. i called the nurse at the office, and she said it's pretty normal when you're switching drugs.
give it some time, then if it's still bothering you, talk to your doctor.

I'd guess that it probably has a lot to do with switching BC (remember, it takes a few months before you'll adjst completely) AND the skipped periods. No matter how many times you skip, your body will never really accept that as the norm, and has every right to try and flush everything out without your consent. I know a lot of girls are like "I've done it like a bajillion times, I pretty much know I won't have any spotting," and I'm pretty sure that's a little load of crap. Unless you do it VERY regularly (like if you're taking Seasonale) then your chances of not experiencing some weird spotting at weird moments is kinda slim.

You'll get into a groove soon enough. But there are some crappy things you have to accept (like periods) and anytime you DO decide to skip and it DOES work out, then yay!!! for you. If you try & it doesn't work...well, you're no better off than you would have been had you NOT bothered trying to skip, and no worse off, so you haven't really lost anything by trying.

Ugh, I spot like crazy on Ovcon since I started recently on it, and I'm a Sunday starter as well. The bottom line is, has been said, that since your body, like mine, is still adjusting to the pill (in your case the new pill), there will be spotting.

It's such a drag though... it's like having quasi-periods. :(
