I've never used tampons. I've tried to wear them a few times and I can't even get the applicator in far enough to insert the tampon. Not only because it feels too uncomfortable, it might be physically impossible as well - my vagina has a sharp curve near the opening. Does anyone else have this problem? Should I try using non-applicator tampons?

A lot of women have problems using tampons, why such a need to use tampons if they are uncomfortable? Have you tried sponges or cups instead? Cups are safer, cheaper, more convenient and greener than tampons too.

yeah but your hymen's right at the opening, not further inside. if you can get a tampon even a couple of inches in, you can get past the hymen, if you even have one. (the last stats i saw said that about half of all virgins don't.)

A cup is going to be a lot easier to use than tampons, they don't cause friction between the product and the vagina. Virginity won't make any differance to that.

How far from the opening is the sharp curve? It sounds like your pelvic bone (which would be about 1-3 inches inside the entrance). You need to angle the tampon in so that it goes past that. If you insert a finger, you can feel what the angle that you need to go in at is. An applicatorless tampon may help you by giving you better control or it could be harder. It really varies from person to person.

Although I definitely recommend the cup above anything else, I hear ya that it's expensive and mailorder, and you probably don't have a credit card to get it online or whatever...
I would say go get some OB tampons just to try, I found them FAR easier to use than applicator ones, I think mostly because I am small in every way, and the applicators were just not cut to fit me, no matter what. The nonapplicator ones give you a lot more control. Good luck!
