Well, I've been having this problem. I've noticed a bump about the diameter of a quarter and a quarter inch high where my leg meets my pelvis. Is this just like a heat bump or something? I get them and then they go away. Then they'll come back. I'm going to the doctor on Thursday for a sinus problem...is this something I should tell her?

Thanks,
Dana

I'd mention it to her, but don't worry about it too much until then. I get smaller versions of those that kinda look like zits. They're generally ingrown hairs which kinda hurt but they go away eventually.

Definitely check with your doc! I'm thinking that it may be a swollen lymph node, since there are a lot of those in that area.. but it would be good to find out for sure & not have to worry about it.

Lymph nodes are components of the lymphatic system. Clusters of lymph nodes are found in the underarms, groin, neck, chest, and abdomen. Lymph nodes act as filters, with an internal honeycomb of connective tissue filled with lymphocytes that collect and destroy bacteria and viruses. When the body is fighting an infection, these lymphocytes multiply rapidly and produce a characteristic swelling of the lymph nodes.

The spleen and tonsils, for example, are large, well-known lymph nodes.

(This is basic science stuff.. if you're curious about it, check out any good anatomy & physiology book.. it really comes in handy to have a working knowledge of your body!)

It's a good sign that the swelling of yours seems to go away by itself (if that's what's happening.. I'd have to see in person to know for sure), but it would definitely mean that your immune system is doing battle. It would be good to get a doc's assessment, at any rate, just to rule out serious stuff.

Take care!
