I am on BC (the patch) and had my first intercourse this cycle. Yesterday my period should have started, it absolutely always starts by Sunday and today I only had some brownish spotting for about twenty minutes.

Spotting= not a period.

Could this be a sign that I'm pregnant? Would this be any other month I'd be knee-high in bloody vaginal secretions by now, but I am not.

Could I be pregnant?

PS: I noticed the edges of the patch peeling up a little a few times but I figured the medicine was concentrated in the center of the patch? Is this the case or should my boyfriend and I be panicking even more than we are at the moment?

it could be a sign that you're pregnant, but it could just be the patch. i have no idea about the patch question, but keep in mind that the hormones that bc patch/pills/what have you give you are pregnancy hormones.

I'm on the patch too. Second week ever.

Let me just tell you, I too, have the brownish spotting thing going on. And it's BEEN going on for a consecutive 6 days now. Irritated? Yes, ma'am.

The edges peeling is pretty much normal assuming that you A) shower and B) change your clothes regularly. I find that if you just lay a warm hand over it for a few seconds and sort of rock your hand over it like you're trying to glue a photo into a scrapbook, most times it'll re-stick. Mine peeled off about 1cm from the top this morning, and I pushed at it for a minute and it's stuck back down like cement now.

My older sister is on the patch - it peels for her. I don't know about her periods much since she uses tampons and now lives in her own apartment, but if you want I could ask her. :)

You can also always look up information on the patch on the web to see if it's the patch doing the spotting.
