So, I got my period from about the 8th to the 14th. Now I've had my bouts with ovarian cysts and irregular periods, but this still strikes me as odd. Only about a week after having a period, I have another one now. Very light, but still there... enough to have to wear something to catch the blood. This worries me. Something just feels weird. It has been suggested to me that it could just be stress... but I am not so ready to accept that as the reason. I haven't had a problem with the cysts for a while, so long ago that I don't remember if that caused such weird timing on bleeding. So, any ideas? Am I just being your typical overreacting female at the first sign that something might be wrong?

Is it definitely a full period or is it just spotting (or heavy spotting)? Lots of things can cause a period to go off kilter. Change in diet, change in exercise, change in living environment, change in job, any kind of stress in your life, change in who you hang-out with (since some women sync up with each other if they spend a lot of time together). There are so many things that can cause a screwy period. Per my doctor, a lot of women call up to say their period's gone off for the month (either disappeared or shown up at the wrong time) and a lot of times, there's nothing wrong (and some actually get upset when the come in to see her and she finds nothing wrong!). Unless you start bleeding heavily or getting worse than normal cramps, or if it continues for a long period of time (more than a week or so), it's probably nothing to worry about.

Since you've had problems in the past, you may want to call the doctor just to make sure that everything's ok, though.

Btw, I have to admit that the term "typical overreacting female" is a bit harsh. It's your body. You have every right to be concerned about it - especially since you did have problems in the past.

as I recall from my days dealing with ovarian cysts (I was 12 when I was diagnosed), there was spotting if not full on bleeding. I hadn't even had my period when we found out I had cysts, but I thought I had because of the slightly bloody discharge accompanying a cyst episode.
hope that alleviates some stress ;D

like i said i was diagnosed at 12. yesterday was my 32nd birthday and for 20 years it has been the same. every so often i get that FREAKING AWFUL pain in my lower abdomen (sometimes right sometimes left) and I KNOW they are back. it isn't like there is rhyme or reason to it. nothing changes or cycles in a way i can percieve at least.
as i see it, cysts are a pain, but overall it's totally still worth it to be a girl.
:D
