Hi. I'm on Yasmin, i've just finished my first pack of pills. For three weeks i've been bleeding. Sometimes it seems to stop to just a discoloured discharge. But every time my boyfriend and i have sex, my period comes back. I had the naïve idea that maybe his semen was just 'diluting' the blood and making it seem like there's more... but i think that's pretty silly, really. Because after sex, it looks just like i've bled a normal period, maybe 3rd day heaviness instead of just the discharge i had before sex.

So could anyone tell me what's going on? Thanks!

That seems a little odd. Usually I bleed less after sex (yes I too have been bleeding for almost a month straight) but it's NEVER so much that it looks like a normal period. I'd try giving your doctor a ring to see if that's normal.

When I was taking ortho tri cyclen, I never had a problem with long periods. I was sunday start, always bled on the tuesday after I started the placebos and bled til friday or saturday. Yes, my period got *shorter* on the pill(before it would be 8 or 9 days).

i did exactly the same thing with ortho. the first pill i took (can't remember the name) was lighter on the hormones. i basically spotted for 2 weeks each month.
it takes a good 3 months for your body to get used to any new form of bc, so if you call your doc, he/she will probably tell you to wait it out. but if it does it again on your second pack, with heavy bleeding like that, call the doc.
also, because it takes 3 months for your body to adjust, it's recommended that you use condoms or another form of contraceptive those first few months. you can still get preggy on the pill, especially when you're body's still getting used to it.
i've been on ortho or a generic for years now, but my boyf and i use condoms every time. i'm slightly paranoid about getting pregnant. the last thing i need is bigger boobs.
