Hi I just joined. I just started Ortho-Tri Cyclen and started the green placebo pills today so my period is due anytime now. I found that they did make me nauseous but after about two weeks that feeling went away. It did give me terrible mood swings though. For about a week I was horribly depressed and felt like I was going to die. Has this happened to anyone else? It's over now, thank goodness but for awhile there it was pretty bad.

Well, it'll be a month on Wednesday that I've used ortho tricyclen, and haven't noticed any dramatic mood swings - if anything, I've become more temperate. But, I have noticed that I've lost weight (instead of gaining it like they sometimes say you do) and got clearer skin. I also got alittle nauseous a few days ago, but now I'm fine.

Yea, ever since I've been on it my appetite has decreased drastically. My friends and family keep telling me how good I look. The pill does have its advantages along with the disadvantages, that's for sure.

ortho-tricyclene gave me horrid mood swings much like you describe -- I couldn't take it -- I was an even bigger bitch on birth control -- if it keeps up (particularly depression-like feelings), I'd suggest changing your birth control -- some people don't do well on tri-phasal (three hormone levels) birth control... you have to find the birth control that works best for you... and if you think it's making you horribly depressed, or even just way over the edge emotion wise, I'd suggest a change...
you can loose weight on almost any birth control, too... my doctor explained that it's more myth than fact that women gain on birth control...

I've always been rather depression-prone; I was doing fairly well when I started Ortho Tri-Cyclen, and got pretty depressed within a few weeks. My doctor ended up putting me on an antidepressant (which, in my opinion, I needed anyway) about a month ago, and leaving me on the Ortho... and all is well now. The nausea was there for me for the first couple of weeks on Ortho, too. Anyway, if you're having side effects that badly, I'd definitely recommend talking to your doctor... but mostly I just wanted to say: yes, this happens to other people too... you're not alone!

I never take the placebo pills. I have never felt a need to. I stopped taking Ortho-Tri Cyclen because of the horrible mood swings, cramps and the fact it made my breasts very painful.
