Hello all. This is my first time posting here. I find this community to be very welcoming and informative at the same time. So I have a question I hope people can answer for me. I have been sexually active for a few months now and birth control pills have been presribed for me. They were actually prescribed for the horrible menstrual cramps I get and because I just had an ovarian cyst (which makes cramps look like a walk in the park might I add! ). I was given a prescription for a birth control pill called "Necon". I have never heard of this one before. Has anyone here had any experience with it? I'm set to start it within this next week so to anyone who has taken it - I'd appreciate knowing what your experiences were. Did it help alleviate menstrual pain? Was there side effects?

If anyone could help me, that'd be great!

Thanks :)

There are alot of natural remedies for the cyst and cramps you might be interested in. Gary Null is one reliable source for this kind of information. He has a web site and a book just for women.

According to this, it looks like Necon is just one of many brand names for the same thing. There are a few variations of Necon which seem to be equivalent to various Ortho-Cyclens--which one is yours?

You'll find that people have very different reactions to the Pill. The first pill I tried, Desogen, wasn't good for me (made me depressed & my libido went into the toilet).

The next pill, Ortho-Cyclen, hasn't given me any noticeable side effects aside from easier periods. It does take a few months for your body to get used to the pill, so if you do experience anything odd, give it time. If it doesn't go away, consult your doctor, tell her your symptoms, and ask to be put onto a different pill. There are tons of different formulations and you can find one that suits you.
