1) My menarche was at 10 years (yikes, I know that's pretty early and I was worried too) and I'm now 18. I don't know if it's a change of diet or whatever but for the first 3 years my period was regular. After that, it seems to come as it likes, sometimes less than 28 days apart, or once in three months! (and it is heavier the less often it comes). Should I be worried?

2) During my periods I get pains which I liken to "back labour pains". Lol. My backaches seem to cripple me more than the cramp ever do! Any help for this?

Thank you all! ;-)

1.) No. It's normal to have some fluctuations during adolescence. For a three month lapse in what otherwise is a regularly monthly cycle you need to talk to a doctor to go over what could causing that type of delay. Hormones? An infection? PCOS? Before you make the appointment, take notes on any pain, moodiness, or unusual discharge you experience while you're waiting for that late period. This may be normal for you, or it may be something else. Your doctor would know.

2.) I get these pains during my PMS week, and they are excruciating. Tylenol, Advil, or some other anti-inflammatory is helpful, but what works best for me is heat. An electic heating pad or a disposable ThermaCare heat patch (found in the first aid and feminine supply aisles) will take the edge off.

i agree with winifred.
i found that an extra-strength cramp formula midol worked best for my cramps. i used to feel them in my back sometimes, too.
if you have the time when your back is hurting, try laying on an electric blanket. those therma-care patches are great, too.
also, you might try some herbal pms teas. you should be able to find some at GNC or any store that carries herbal-remedy teas.
