My name is Chenel, I'm seventeen years old, and I'm new to the community.

Normally I get my period every month at the end of the month. Ok. So I had it this past August and it lasted from the 22nd to the 28th, I think. Anyways, when I started my period last month, I also started taking my first packet ever of birth control. Everything went fine that month no problem. Now today I was in the bathroom and noticed that I had my period again! I don't even know what because I just got off of it a few days ago. I was thinking either these two things: (a) it could be the effects of the birth control or (b) something could be going on down there because of the fact that me and my boyfriend didn't use a condom a few times because we didn't have them, and I'm on birth control anyways, AND he pulled out. And we do have sex more often than others....

So my question is, why do you think I'm getting my period so early??

Birth control pills screw around with your period. You just went from a 30 to 31 day cycle to a 28 day cycle on the pill, so you're early due to birth control.

try [livejournal.com profile] amipregnant and your doctor for an answer.

The first 1-3 months on birth control are luck of the draw. It's an adjustment period as your body gets used to having the new hormones in your system, and you can get breath thru bleeding and other fun side effects, or you may have no side effects. You should keep taking your pills everyday like you're supposed to, and hopefully you won't spot the entire time. If you bleed very heavily or if you start to feel sick, get heavy cramps, etc., you'll definately want to talk to your doctor, though.

I don't know about the timing, but you do need to use a backup form of birth control (like condoms) until you've been on the pill for a week if you start the pill while you're on your period. So you'd have to decide if there's a fear or possibility of pregnancy. If that's the case, you should contact your doctor about an early pregnancy test. Most over the counter tests won't work until you're late for your regularly scheduled period.
