Yesterday morning I got my period on the morning of going to Six Flags. So I just used my normal Beyond tampon and went but like an hour through the ride it was leaking really bad. We got new pants and super absorbency tampons and pads. I used BOTH since I was going to be moving around alot that day.

And a few hours later it was fully through the super tampon and there was some on the pad. I had to keep changing it through out the day and now it's the next day it's still very heavy and it goes through pads.

I'm 14 years old, I've never ever gotten my period this bad before so it's scaring me. Last month it was late, and heavy. This month it's at the wrong time and very very heavy.

I also get huge chunks that my aunt said are uteris lining.

Should I be scared?

I'm almost seventeen, so I don't have as much experience as some, but the "chunks" are perfectly normal. Not to have constantly, but blood clots, and pieces of lining seem to come and go. Sometimes cramps can be really bad before these kinds of things too.

At your age, having an irregular period that varies in consistency and level of heaviness isn't unusual.

However, soaking through a super plus tampon in less than two hours is considered a problem that you should see a doctor over.

It's probably not. And sometimes period do just go wonky and you'll havy a heavier period than normal. If you don't feel bad, and if you don't continue to have super heavy periods, I wouldn't worry about it. If your periods stay at this super-heavy rate, though, it can be a good idea to chat with a doctor (if nothing else than to make sure that you're not getting anemic during your period!)

You're only young so irregularity is normal. When I first got mine I would go months without it...have a light one...months later have a really heavy one, etc. It will eventually even out and be somewhat regular.

The "chunks" are perfectly normal...it's just the lining shedding which comes out with a little blood. You don't have to worry about that. Sometimes they could be big, sometimes small...some periods you could notice a lot, and maybe others you won't notice it at all.

Don't worry :P

one sunday, i started bleeding A LOT, like every time i moved. i took two days off from work and thought it would stop. it didn't. i grew lightheaded and my heart would beat madly when i had to (frequently) stagger into the bathroom to try to clean up. an ambulance ride to the emergency room later, they told me that i had lost 2/3rds of my blood volume. i have a very common bleeding disorder called von willebrands disease. one or two in every 100 people have it. i had pretty frequent nosebleeds as a kid, but it took that episode at age 24 for the doctors to diagnose it.

it's so hard to know what's "normal" for this sort of thing because we only know ourselves, and i don't think any of us put beakers of our blood clots on a scale... i had no idea at the time and just have a vague notion now of what a "normal" period might be like. so just try to go by this: if you soak through a tampon or pad every hour, see a doctor. that is the question that the doctors asked me time and time again, "are you soaking through a pad an hour?"

I always used to get really heavy periods (i would have regular (hate supers!!!>:( ) tampons and pads in and both would be gone in 1-2 hours), and horrible cramps that started with in an hour of my period starting. 2 months ago i saw a doctor and after a couple tests she put me on the pill and now i bleed less in my whole period (which tend to last 4 days rather then the 10 before) then i did in any day of my old periods. I still get cramps but they last maybe 5 mins, and the clots arent as common.
