hello,

i just started ortho tricyclen lo about oh, 3 weeks ago. this is the first time i've taken birth control pills. i usually start my period around the 20th of the month; however, since starting the pill, i have had a week of period-like activity, way earlier than i usually get a period. at first i was thinking spotting, but one day was super heavy, so maybe breakthrough bleeding...but since it's lasted a week, i wonder if it pushed my cycle up? i know some irregulr spotting/bleeding is "normal," but for this long?

has anyone else experienced such irregularity with cycles when starting the pill? i am highly annoyed by all this...and very confused...i'd really appreciate some insight. thanks much!

Well, birth control pills will put your period on a very regular schedule, usually 28 days. Since you have started taking hormones, your body will react by having a period soemtime during your placebo week, rather than when you would have naturally had one.
