Hi everyone!

I am new here...I was hoping you might have some experience/advice to offer me. I missed my 3rd period in a row last week and I don't know what the deal is. I have taken 2 pregnancy tests, one in July and one in August, both negative. Anyone have this happen to them/a friend...and what other things might it be besides a baby?

Thanks a million in advance :)

That happened to me last year 3 months with no period and I'm still not sure what happened. If your sure your not pregnant then it's probably down to stress, have you had anything worrying you lately? A change in your lifestyle? Or your diet even? I say just relax and when it's ready it'll come :) x

Pregnency tests can be expensive and aren't always as accurate as a test done by the doctor. I know that I was told I was pregnent by a test and then told I wasn't by the doctor. I am not really sure how much this would cost but try to get one done. (I live in Canada and this stuff is usually free) I hope all goes well for you. :)

You could always go to Planned Parenthood and get a pregnancy test. They should be the same if not very similar to the tests given by doctors. I had one years ago and I think it was about $20.

If you've missed your period for two months, and taken a couple of pregnancy tests, you're probably not pregnant. The tests are sometimes notstrong enough for very early pregnancies, but after two months, they'd show up any pregnancy.

You can stop menstruating for a variety of reasons. If you're stressed or changed your living environment, your cycle can go wonky. If your'e not getting enough fat in your diet, or if your percentage of body fat is low, you can stop menstruating. If you're exercising too much, you can stop menstruating. From what I've been told, if you don't get 3-4 periods a year of if you have an abrupt change (you go from regularly having periods every month to no periods for monts on end), you should go to a doctor to get a check-up, though.

what about going to planned parenthood or a county health clinic? they're usually cheaper than a traditional doctor's office, and could do a professional exam / test right there for you.

My friend had this problem, and it turned out to be a hormonal imbalance. In her case she had high prolactin levels so she failed to have a period for 3 months. She is on the waiting list to see an endocrinologist (UK) and took some raspberry leaf tea, and has been menstruating for 5 weeks. I would see a Dr and have a simple blood test to check you hormone levels. If they are ok, then it could just be stress.

Happens to me all the time.... and has done for years and years and years.

If I am in the slightest bit stressed, I can slip a month, two, three, four.... I find that a pregnancy test (I have them done at the dr since they are free there) brings them on [one less thing to stress about!]

Last time I had missed ones I was pregnant (but not for the whole time). October was when my period was, and by March I was starting to get a little concerned (but I was getting cramps and feeling odd). I was actually pregnant (I'd conceived in January). But I'd gone from October to January without a period for non-pregnancy reasons.

It was funny because when the Doctors and stuff were trying to calculate my due date they would ask when my last period was to try and calculate it :) But that was obviously not going to work in my case. {Through the ultrasound they worked it out though.} All my friends were amazed, they start stressing if they are a few days late. I don't start to worry unless its 2-3 months late :)
