How soon before your period do you usually start getting PMS symptoms? I've never really had PMS and am concerned if these are pre-period symptoms. My period is supposed to start in a little over a week, and I've never had any PMS stuff before, so I was just curious if you get PMS a week before your period comes.

I personally notice a continuum of small changes that I attribute to hormones throughout my entire cycle.

I desire more sugar near and just after ovulation. I sometimes get sore breasts abotu three days before the period begins. I get depressed about 1.5 days before my period begins. The depression causes me to notice a slight bloating and feel very fat and ugly :-/

in high school, the only pms symptom i got was cramps. and that wasn't even every month.
now, i will start to notice some pms symptoms 7 to 10 days before i actually start bleeding. i don't cramp until the day of, usually, but i get tender breasts, migraines, sometimes mood swings.
your pms symptoms will change all your life. well, until you're through menopause anyway. don't be too surprised to find yourself very pmsy for so long, then back to hardly any pms.

When I was in high school I'd get A cramp. One solitary pain which would start around dinner and I'd go to sleep and the next morning I'd wake up bleeding. I would also snap at my mom a lot more for about a week. Once in a while I'd eat through the entire pantry.

Since then they've gotten a bit worse. Now I feel kinda like poo (literally...constipated, crampy...a general ick) for a few days before and for the first couple days of my period.

I ovulate and then my nipple starts to hurt that day, and then it just escalates from there. Two weeks. I always know when my period will arrive.

I will often break out in pimples for about 5 days before my period, and my boobs will get bigger (not usually sore, though) about two days before. These are easily missed symptoms, though. Some months they are more noticeable than others.
