question... you know when they tell girls not to smoke while they're on the pill, do you think that applies to weed as well or just cigs?

the cigarette warning for birth control is because of increased risk of heart attack while on hormones, so anyone especially at risk shouldn't take them. People who smoke cigarettes are especially at risk.
To my knowledge, pot does not have the same effect on the body, and so shouldn't be a concern. But, I doubt they've thoroughly studied that drug interaction, so its a possibility like Dr Drew said. I wouldn't think it would cause the same problem, though.

One of the main risks of smoking and being on the pill is blood clots. Marijuana use can also do things like raise blood pressure and heart rate, as well as respirations, and may do more damage in some people than cigarette smoking because the smoke tends to be held in the lungs.

It's a good idea to avoid smoking anything while on the pill. If you're a regular marijunana user, you might want to consider a non-estrogen containing contraceptive method.

I am not a regular pot smoker, but I do smoke it when I have terrible cramps, as it is the only substance I have found which makes them stop. I spoke to my doctor about this, and she said that as long as I wasn't smoking a garbage bag full of it, than it should be fine (usually two tokes and my cramps were gone).
