i question i don't feel like going to amipregnant to ask

Hello. I have a very skippy menstrual cycle, as in once it skipped for two years. I was on Estrostep FE to regulate, but it made me bleed very, very heavily and I decided to stop taking it and have my doctor give me a new bc to try. I have an appointment on the 26th to ask her about that.

Now, I recently had unprotected sex (yes, i am not smart. I was caught up in the moment, and I accept responsibility if I have conceived. so does he.) and I wanted to know, with a naturally skipping cycle, how will I know if I am or not? How soon does it show on a pee-stick test? Can I get a false positive if I have quirky hormones? Should I just ask the doctor?

I am sorry that this is slightly OT, but as my heading says, I wanted to ask it here. Y'all helped me out before, too, when I had a question.

Usually they say '3 days before your period is expected'. Now, according to the best information I have you 'should' get your period 14 days after ovulation, you can get pregnant for roughly 5 days before ovulation. Thus I would expect that 20 days after sex a pregnancy test would correctly test positive.

A pregnancy test tests for a hormone only produced during pregnancy, so there are no false positives. You can get a false negative, though, if you test too early and the hcg levels aren't high enough to be registered. Wait two weeks, which is about how long it'd take for Average Jane to test positive after conception, or have her period after ovulation. In other words, if you ovulated when you had unprotected sex, then a pegnancy test would be accurate in two weeks.

If it's been less than a couple days, you should go get emergency contraception. The further away from the sex act you get, the less effective EC will be, but they say it's good up to 120 hours after sex.
