Hiya, I'm Kristin.. this is my introductory post, and also a post about a question that I have. I'm 19 and from Cincinnati Ohio. *Waves*

Alright.. here's my question, though somewhat complicated, bare with me.. for it's very confusing to me, which is why I'm posting here. I recently stopped taking my birth control pills, and when I was all finished, I did not have a period. It dawned on me weeks after it happened, and I didn't realize it. I had some unprocted sex within that time, and for a while we thought I was pregnant. I'm about 23 days late, and I've taken a few pregnancy tests and they're all negative.. about a week ago, when I took the first, I also had an infection of sorts. A tract infection, which I'm told can mess the results, so I waited until last night, and took another. It was also negative. So.. I don't know whether are not to unrule a possible pregnancy.. I also had a LEEP procedure done, on my cervix a while ago too (the removing of cancerous cells), so it could be shock.

My real question here is...
A.) Women, who normally have regular periods, what are the likely hood of your skipping one?
b.) would it be safe to rule out pregnancy?
c.) how many have you have been on birth control and not had a cycle when you stopped, and also what is the likely hood of that?
d.) How often is it that stress/shock on the body alone can cause a skipped cycle?

Feel free to delete if this is going TOO off topic.. but I was hoping someone here may have a little input :)

Thanks everyone! Bye!!

it is common to not have a period for a little while once one stops birth control, the hormones are trying to decide if they need to act on their own, or if there is still some unknown source of hormones.

stress can definatly cause one to skip or be late on a period, it is also quite common.

your probably not pregnant

hope that helps.

stress can definitely throw your cycle off, as can weight gain weight loss increase or decrease in physical activity. so can coming off bc.

if you're very concerned about being pregnant - the best thing to do at this point is go to a doc and have a blood test done. that's a surefire way of knowing.

i doubt you are pregnant though, as an OTC test would most definitely come back positive now, since you're over three weeks late.

just don't stress about your period :)it'll most likely appear when your body's hormones adjust back to normal
