heh. sorry all for posting so damn much...
anyone ever forget to take their pills/stop taking them/whatever well before the pack was done and your cycle had come full circle again? and gotten your period as a result?
because i stopped taking my pills (they were making me pretty ill and i had to see the doctor before i took another one), i (obviously) got mine, and it was about two and a half weeks after my last one had ended (i know, bad for me, but only once). so it was pretty light, like breakthrough bleeding only a little heavier and longer than that.

you think it was light because my uterus didn't have enough time to build up its lining fully, or because it WAS breakthrough bleeding and my real period hasn't come yet because it hasn't been long enough, and i've screwed my cycle up in a major way?

i'm just curious, because i'm sure there's people out there who have forgotten their pills and this has happened to them. i just want to know what's going on.

I have stopped taking my pills and as a result had to start a whole new set. No adverse affects felt aside from a period at an unusual time.

I stopped taking my pills in the middle of a pack, after having been on them for about two years... my period didn't show up for a while and I had to go on some progesterone to get it to come back.

About 8 months later, I had to go to the hospital ER at 2:00am because I had a cyst on one of my ovaries that burst (and ow, god, it hurt a LOT). My doctor told me it probably formed because I had been taking the hormones for so long and then stopped suddenly without finishing the pack.

I haven't had any cysts since then (I'm on depo-provera now) so I'm inclined to believe that I really did just throw my body completely out of whack.

Not saying that this is going to happen to you - this was just my experience. =)

have you read the information that comes with your pill pack? (yes i mean the stuff in the infinitesimally small print :)....usu. they say that if you stop taking your pills (if you "forget" more than two in a row), it will make you menstruate...when you're on the pill, menstruation is simply brought on by stopping it (if you're taking 28-day pills, like orthotrycyclen, the last 7 are placebos, or sugar pills, and that's when you bleed). So that's what i'd guess it was...but if you ask your doc, s/he could probably give you a much more detailed and clinical answer...
