Towards the end of the summer I got a bad case of strep throat... and it took damn near forever for me to get over it... well school started and I was always sleepy which was weird because I was never sleepy then. Hell I was 11.. I started feeling sick again so I went to the Dr. and they said I had mono and sent me home. Over the next couple of days I kept getting sicker. My right arm was like sore and frozen.. I had a "goose egg" on my neck.. every lymph node in my body was swollen. I went back to the Dr. and they said I had scarlatina.. a form of scarlet fever... because my body was so red and swollen.. and they sent me home again. That night I started throwing up dark green stuff. My parents took me to the ER and they admitted me into the hospital and I don't remember much of the next three days because I slipped in and out of consciousness. Finally my stupid doctor decided to send me to a bigger hospital.. ours is small and shitty. So they got some doctors down here from Fort Worth and they had to work on me for 4 hours to stabilize me for the flight. They flew me to Cooks' Children Medical Center in Fort Worth where I spent the next 7 days on a ventilator because my lungs collapsed. I was in a coma-type state that whole week. I flat-lined three times on the plane and once when we got to the hospital. I was terribly sick. I spent 2 weeks in Fort Worth before coming home and spending nearly 2 months at home recovering. I got TSS because the strep-b virus got into my blood stream and it just turned out that way. Many people get TSS this way... including guys. I don't think many people know that. Anyway.. there's a lot more to the story than that...but I'll save all the sick details unless someone really wants to hear them... ;)

Oh my gosh, I'm glad you're ok. Over the years, I've heard many references made about TSS, and media just makes it sound like a flu...Geez, what you had sounds truly horrifying...Take care of yourself...
