Got my keeper today. Quick shipping, I ordered it Friday and it's already here. Rock.

Showed mom. She gave it a skeptical look, then goes --

"After my experience with a diaphragm, no thanks. Wait til you try and put that in and you're all hooey and gooey and it flips across the bathroom. You better clean up after yourself."

*snort* Thanks mom. :D

It's true :/ I used the Instead cup for the first time, and let me tell you, NOT a pretty picture.

It looked like someone got murdered.

It doesn't hurt! It's sometimes uncomfortable to put in, but not painful. Here's something with tips: The Keeper (http://www.livejournal.com/community/menstrualhut/963406.html).

ahahahah hooey and gooey!

My mom did the same thing, but i have had maybe one experience where i got all hooey and gooey with my bad self, and other than that it's been the best thing ever to happen to me!

I thought the same thing as you, it looks really big (and i accidentally ordered the wrong size so it really looked scary) but after your first few time it'll go in and come out without too much trouble. Of course, this is only from my own experience, it probably isn't so fabulous for everyone, but i am in love with mine. I want to buy one for everyone i know, it's made me actually want to start my period.

My tip would be to try it out first. You might need a bit of lube, but getting familiar with how it fits and feels is a really good idea before you're bleedinga nd you just want to get it in and go. Dont be discouraged it it's really hard if you do this, i was really frustrated when i tried it for the first time (pre-period) and then when my period started the next day it went in without a hitch.

i would reccommend not cutting the tab until you've worn it through at least 4 hours, it'll fit everyone differently, and i didn't need to cut mine at all.

when you get the hang of it you'll love it sdo much you'll wanna tell everyone you're using it, it's so exciting! good luck, and i hope it works as well for you as it does for me, i will never go back to tampons again.

oh, and...

The first time you take it out, it can get a bit messy, your mom was right... so i experiemented with it in the shower stall for easy cleanup.
