Why would anyone wish menopause on themselves? My friend is currently late for her period, and she's hoping it's really super early menopause (she's 29) instead of a pregnancy. Not that she doesn't want a baby, just that she doesn't want to be pregnant... She tells me this as I find out I can never have another baby and I may lose my uterus. :(

She probably meant it ficitiously .. its like the "anything but pregnant" comment .. and maybe in this case, her choice of the "anything" was a little insensitive to your feelings, but maybe it didn't occur to her at the time. Sorry. :(

though I'd miss the hormones. I think menopause is generally not very fun, as you have the withdrawal problem...

ditto. i understand that some women love the idea of having their own child, but it just doesn't appeal to me in any way.

I suppose that those who are done spawning and find their cycles painful and/or a hassle[such as myself] welcome the idea.

She turns out to not be pregnant.
I know there are people out there who really don't want children, but there are many methods other than menopause for sterelization purposes. Menopause isn't even a surefire mothed.
I would have offered to adopt her baby. It's something we're looking into on our end.
