Is there an item similar to a Diva Cup or Keeper that is disposable? I want to try one, but I would like to use a cheaper, disposable version before I becomoe committed.

The Instead cup is similar, but different. It sits higher, for one, and has no handle.

The Instead Soft Cups are the disposable ones but they are pretty much completely different from the DC or Keeper except for the fact that they catch and hold blood. They are more like a diaphram and from what I hear (and read) are extremely messy. Yes, they are disposable but I wouldn't say cheaper just because you do have to keep buying them. If you think about it, paying 25 now for something that can last 10 years+ versus paying like 6 bucks for a box that will only last you maybe 2 months, well you do the math. But if you want to try them, go ahead. Just know that they are placed much higher, have no way to remove them except grabbing the rim, and will be very messy when it comes to removal.

Instead cups are at first messy, but once you get the hang of them they really aren't.

I reuse my Insteads, one cup per month. I see no reason to dispose of them after a few hours, when they can easily be rinsed and re-inserted. $5.50 then for a box that lasts 14 months. Other than that, they aren't all that messy once you get the hang of it; you hook the rim, and it all empties into the toilet. In fact, many women (myself included) have discovered that if you bear down while sitting on the toilet, the cup will empty itself.

They're nothing like DC or Keeper, that's true. I like the way Insteads fit, though.

I know the DivaCup has a return policy. If you really hated it, you could send it back.

Yeah, you have 3 cycles to return it.

Actually with the Diva you have a year. With the Keeper and the Mooncup, you have three cycles. Even though the Insteads, in my opinion, aren't any where near as comfortable and non-messy as a reusable cup, I do recommend trying them. When I was looking into the idea of cups, I decided to try Instead first. It helped me get used to reaching up there (I had only ever used tampons w/applicators) and it also helped me get used to touching my blood because even though the Divacup less messy, I still get a little blood on my fingers.

Instead’s are disposable options, however they are far more expensive than re-usable options, they are also nothing like other menstrual cups as Instead’s are shaped like a diaphragm rather than bell-shaped like other menstrual cups, also I’ve generally found that a lot of women have problems with Instead’s leaking etc. I personally shipped some over to the UK because it’s one of the few menstrual options I haven’t tried, I have yet to get one in successfully. Although the web site does offer a free sample of three cups, although you do have to pay P&P.
Divacup has a whole years money back guarantee, the Keeper and Mooncup have a three month money back guarantee, or of course you can always make your own – it is a lot cheaper to try a reusable cup, the disposable cups are nothing like the reusable cups so you really can’t compare them.
