According to the book Taking Charge of your Fertility by Toni Weschler, a day or 2 light bleeding right around ovulation is normal. It is another fertitlity sign that can help identify where you are in our cycle. Its usually the result of sudden drop of estrogen just before ovulation & tends to occur more often in long cycle.
Especially if you're on birth control pills, but sometimes even if you're not (go figure), a little light bleeding around ovulation is supposedly common. (I got light bleeding around then when I had been on the Pill for awhile.)
"Normal" for me was very light, far lighter than my period; only enough to merit a pantiliner half the time or so. But I'm sure that varies from person to person....
