[identity profile] emilime.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] menstrualhut
Hi everyone, this is my first post.

I came to the community to find some information about parsley tea and I found a great post in the memories. However, there are a few questions I would like to ask before trying it.

I have been on the pill for over a year. This month I was not able to get my pills on time; so this month I have not been on my pills. I know that this can affect your cycle, however the last time I came off of my pills (early summer) I stayed regular.

Now, I am 4 days late. Not much but I'm almost NEVER late. I did have a lot of stress this month with finals from school... and I've been a bit depressed lately also (I don't know if that can affect your cycle or not). I do not believe I am pregnant because since my boyfriend lives out of town now we only had sex 3 times last month and used condoms every time. None of them broke and I do not believe that any "leaked" but I am not 100% sure of that.

I would like to take parsley tea to try to induce my period so that I can begin my pills again, but I'm not sure if that is okay to do if you actually are pregnant. I did read in the memories that it is not an abortant so I'd assume that means it's okay, but I'd like to have some input from others.

Oh and as far as a pregnancy test goes, it is kind of difficult for me to take one now since I live at home with my family and I really don't want my family to freak out if they saw one. I will take a test next weekend (I'll be staying with some friends next weekend) though if my period has not come.

Anyway, I apologize for the long post but my questions boil down to... "Do you agree that it's unlikely that I'm pregnant?" and "Do you think using parsley tea will be a-okay?"

Thank you in advance!

I do agree that it's unlikely that you are pregnant. One note on pregnancy tests - any urine should be fine. If you buy a pregnancy test and use it in the bathroom anywhere - school, work, a public restroom, whatever... it should work for you. You can conceal one from your family easily.

My understanding is that parsely tea will not abort you if you are pregnant. It's not a good idea to try it if you know you're pregnant, but I don't think it could hurt to try. I'm the one who made the original parsely tea post. Much of the information I've got on this comes from Sister Zeus (http://www.sisterzeus.com). You can also ask the [livejournal.com profile] bloodmoonherbs community. If you are really very concerned, I encourage you to check out Sister Zeus.

i'll add my agreement. it's totally normal to have your period be different when you go off pills. without pills regulating it, all sorts of things can affect it. (like who you're living with!) anyway, if you're not very worried about it, you might as well give it a wait and see a bit.

given that parsley tea is used to induce a late period, and a very common cause of late periods is pregnancy, to me it would be the worst idea ever if parsley tea affected a pregnancy in any way because so many pregnant people would use it, and it wouldn't have caught on as an herbal remedy... but hey, that's just my thought process, and herbals aren't necessarily based on logic. :-)
