hey I was wondering if anybody had this problem or could maybe guess at what is causing it.

I used to be on depo for about 2 and a half years. I completely stopped taking it in the summer. my periods have now started somewhat regulating but I got my period last month on the 22 and then it ended the 26th. well I just got it again last night and it wasn't that heavy but it had really big clots in it. I know that some clots are normal but these were like one to two inches long and fairly wide(sorry very gross). but then today my period has been so heavy. I've soaked up a super tampon about every hour and a half.

so I don't know if its having the really heavy period right after my period or if its the blood clots I'm scared of. if anybody know what it is I'd really like some help. thanks.

o yeah if this helps i'm 16 and i've had my period since I was 11. depo from 14-16.

Are you sexually active? That is, was there any chance you could be miscarrying? (An early-term miscarriage can be like a long, heavy, very clott-y--for lack of a better term--period.) If that's the case, you should go to a doc so they can make sure you're OK, although that's actually relatively (sadly) common to have happen.

Although if not, your hormones could just be adapting to getting off of depo; but if it continues and/or worries you, it never hurts to go to the doctor anyhow. And in the meantime, you might want to make sure you're getting enough iron, since heavy bleeding can make you a little anemic....

at first i thought i was having a miscarriage but then i wasn't quite sure cuz i did sorta have my period plus i would be about 2 months. well i don't know but i think i'm gonna have to get it checked out. the clotting stopped but now its just really heavy bleeding. thanks for your help.

Yeah, if I were you I would get it checked up on... 2 mos. is still in the first trimester, still where it's not at all unlikely to have an early-term miscarriage that would look like weird, heavy bleeding (unfortunately). And you can have period-like bleeding (especially if it was short and/or light) early in a pregnancy, although it doesn't happen to everyone; so even though you did sort-of have your period *shrug* it could still be what's up.
