Tampon sizes

HI--
I have a question about tampons, because I've never used them...I didn't see this topic in the memories.

I have been asked to sew some tampon cases/pouches for a group of girls who work in a casino (they have to carry clear purses, so their tampons show!).
How big is a tampon in its wrapper? I was thinking the pouches should be about six inches long, and wide enough for three or four tampons, maybe four inches? Are tampons usually shorter than six inches?

Duh!! I bet this sounds really stupid! But, I felt more stupid asking the girls who want the pouches, "hmm, may I borrow a couple of your tampons to get some dimensions?"

you should actually ask them what size they have. because if they use o.b., those have no applicators, they're just the cotton part that you push in yourself. the majority of people don't use those, but they're only about an inch and a half long. then again, i guess you could fit more tampons in a case that way, it probably wouldn't be a problem. the tampons with applicators vary a little bit... they're probably about 6 inches in the wrappers... but i'm sure someone else has one around they can measure for you. :-)

Actually, no one I know uses tampons! That's why I was asking here...but I think I'll go with the six inches length...it's better to have a little bit extra space than not enough!

You could always go into a public restroom and get one from the machine, if you haven't started making them yet.
