I'm taking Alese and have been for about three months (and have been taking BCP for about three years now). I use it as a birth control and don't use any other form of protection during sex. If I get my period during a week of active pills but not during my "off" week does that increase my likelihood of getting pregnant if I have sex during that time? or after? Thanks!

no. birth control pills are 99% effective if you take them correctly, period. the only things that can decrease their effectiveness are not taking them correctly (missing pills), or something like taking antibiotics which is a drug interaction. i actually can't think of any other circumstances that change the effectiveness other than those two.

ps. the reason is because when you take the pill, it prevents you from ovulating. so no matter how much you have sex, there should not be an egg there to fertilize.

As long as you take your pills everyday on time, you are protected all month. I had the same problem though; my periods, for months, kept coming on my third week of pills. I found it easier just to go straight to another pack to help get it back on track. If you're taking your pills correctly it's not a big deal, but it's one of those weird peculiarities of mine - I want my period to be during my placebo week. Heh.

this kinda relates to this..im taking alesse..which is the generic brand of aleve (because im a po' lil teenager-lol) anyyyway. my period has come the second week of my active pills for two months now. this is really bothering me, because im basically taking these pills just to regulate my period. i hate not knowing exactly when my period is coming. i should have just left my body alone. :/ anyway..is there anyway to fix that? or should i get on a different birth control pill, or..what? yeah..soo that's what i was wondering. my mom wanted me to ask someone anyway. so i thought menstrual hut would be perfect : D

how long have you been taking it for? because if it is only for 2 months and you don't have any other side effects I would hold out for at least another month to see if your body adjusts.
