my fabulous, amazing boyfriend (who stops and tells me "you're amazing" when he sees me putting my keeper in, teehee) got me an equally fabulous, amazing book for christmas.

Sex, Time and Power: How Women's Sexuality Shaped Human Evolution
by Leonard Shlain

this book explores the evolution of our menses and the co-evolution of the human race. shlain goes in to depth about the iron deficiency women constantly exhibit and how this drove the evolution of our species. he also takes a look at the evolution of human sexuality, our co-cycling with the moon, and just a ton of really fascinating theories about the evolution of humanity through the eyes of early menstruating women.

an EXCELLENT book...complex subject matter but succinctly and clearly written. it's also available on audio cassette or download on amazon.

And to the point... I heard a review/interview with the author of that book last year and it sounded quite excellent... I've been meaning to check it out, thanks for reminding me! :)
