I guess that my body was just trying to be nice last month and decided that I had to make up for it this month. I was really lucky that my period last month started after my birthday and the last day of classes and finished before finals and my plane flight home. It only lasted three days! I don't know how long this one will last, but poop on it, it started not even an hour before I had to write an inclass essay (most of my classes are year long studies and my teacher last semester got sick at the end and moved the term end essay to the start of this term).
But that is okay because now I have reason to bake, which I have been trying to be good at and not do as soon as I got back home (home? that is wierd...I go home for the holidays and come home for school???). But I really start to itch to back sweets when I mentrate (anyone else?) so i am checking out recipes for ginger cookies online. Random question, because this is not a cooking group, but a menstration group, does anyone have a favorite ginger cookie recipe you would like to share? I like all kinds from snaps to chews.
I bake and cook a lot regardless of by bio, but the sweets come on strong during this time. Not the chocolate because that is the week before, but definately sweets like fruity, yohgurt, and spice. I don't know what it is that my body wants in those things (well yohgurt makes sense because of the the acidopholis) but what my body wants, I tend to comply. It doesn't as that much and most of the time it just wants to bake but not eat, so I don't have to worry about gaining too much weight. That and the rest of the month it wants veggies, so 5 days of sweets shouldn't hurt me.
I have always wondered why women want sweets and chocolate during this time. Is it because we need the extra boostes of energy for all that hidden activity going on? Or is it because there is something about menstrating that reminds us that we are kitchen goddesses and need to cook (well I cook, but not all women, so that doesn't fit). Hmm...pain and the need for comfort foods? Not all women want sweets, but want salty. I don't know. I find it amusing. So I am curious...what do you all crave?

sweet and slaty... chocolate covered pretzels.

I go through them by the pound and can't stop eating them until they are gone... even if it makes me sick.

I generally want candy when I am bleeding. caaaaaaandy! not chocolate though. I'm a weirdo in that I don't really like chocolate. I don't hate it, but I just don't really get what the bigt deal is. I think my body is immune to whatever psychoactive drugs are in it.

I don't cook though, so it's definitely nothing related to a cooking impulse. Usually I raid the vending machine for 3-musketeers bars. (yeah, I know they have choclate but it's such cheap chocolate that it hardly tastes chcocolatey)
