Ok. I am one of those obsessive worrier types - so I need some reassurance here.

I've been using Ortho-Evra (the patch) for 2.5 months. And I have been using it correctly. This AM I put on my 2nd patch for this month. Later this afternoon my boyfriend and I had sex and since we ALWAYS use condoms, and in his previous relationships he has always used condoms (and he was my first) we were both wondering what it felt like to have sex w/out a condom. So he went inside me for like, 25 seconds and then I asked him to take his penis out and put a condom on, because even though I am on BC I don't want to risk it.
I know there is sperm in precum, but before he put his penis inside me his penis was dry (yeah ~ i wiped it off, cause I'm a freak like that) - although once he took it out it was obviously impossible to tell if there was any precum because I was wet. So... is it possible to have gotten pregnant from that? He didn't even come close to orgasming, so I'm not concerned so much with "omg, we had sex and he came inside me" as "what are the chances of getting pregnant from precum while on BC" because arent the chances of getting pregant due to precum withOUT BC very low, anyway?

Responses would be appreciated*

I've been on OE for over a year now and in the past two months we haven't used a condom except when I'm off the patch, or if I've just put it on...and I haven't gotten pregnant.

You've been on this round of patches for a week already, and just replaced it, so you should be fine. Just remember that stressing about it could make you late!

If you use your patch correctly, the possibility of you getting pregnant is slim and none.

I agree. The likely hood of you getting pregnant while on birthcontrol, if you have been using it correctly, is slim. The worry inSTDs but if you both are clean, then there is no worry there. Plus it was a slight amount for a short time. Just sit back and relax!

Oh, don't worry! I know how it feels to be paranoid, though. I used to always wear condoms even when I was on birth control, and when I mentioned that to the nurse at Planned Parenthood she gave me this teasing look and said it was pretty unnecessary. Once (while on birth control) the condom borke and I panicked; we went to PP for emergency contraceptive, but they said that the birth control would just take care of it.

So I wouldn't worry. It's great that you're being extra careful, but I doubt that without the condoms you'd be in any danger of being pregnant. Especially if you're using your patch correctly. I'm on the patch and sometimes I forget and put on a patch a day late but there's still not much to worry about. I've been on the patch for two years now, and before that I was on the pill for another two years, and I don't use condoms anymore. You should be fine. ;)

what she means is that birthcontrol is exactly what the name means. It was developed for keeping you from getting pregnant. What BC does is prevent you from ovulating, and without an egg, there is no chance of you getting preggers. How your menstration occurs is that what lining your body has made for the non-existant egg is flushed out because the lack of hormones that the pill/patch has given you is gone, and your body thinks that the non-egg was a dud. But like I said, there is no egg, and with no egg there is no baby. This is all if you actually take your BC correctly, like it sounds you have been.

You don't have to change it at the same time every week, you know that, right?

That made sense. ;) The reasoning is more of the last one: "Birth Control in general can kind of act as EC, when used correctly," because the buildup of hormones in the pills over the month induces a period at the end, whereas EC does the same thing, just at a stronger dose and in a shorter amount of time.

Just as a friendly bit of advice, this kind of question is better put to [livejournal.com profile] amipregnant than here, just for topic's sake.

My ex and I never used condoms. I was on OE for like 6 months.

No babies.

I've been on it for almost 2 years and we never ever use a condom unless for some reason I'm having an issue with my BC (a.k.a the patch came off, I forgot, etc) No babies for us.

Possible?? ... Well, I guess that anything is possible ... but in your case it sounds EXTREMELY HIGHLY UNLIKELY that you'll end up prego ... don't fret, my guess is you'll be just fine. ;) I'm on BC and have had sex many-a-time with my boyfriend sans-condom and no wee-ones just yet ... trust in your BC. ;)

I should also mention that as long as you change your patch on the same day (you can even forget and change it the next day as long as you go back to your regular day the next week) and still be ok. The patch has about 8 or 9 days worth of hormones in it, so if you wake up the day after you were supposed to change it and realize you still have the old one on, you can just change it THEN... no big deal.
