I just thought you all might be interested in knowing about a book I wrote called 28 Days. It's the first daily horoscope based on women's hormones. Yes, women's hormones!
If you'd like to learn more about 28 Days, feel free to visit the book's website at www.28Days-thebook.com.
Thanks, ladies!

Date: 2005-01-19 12:33 pm (UTC)Now I know the reason for saying 28 days, but I didn't see anything on there about whether 28 days actually comes into it, if so then how about women who's cycles aren't 28 days long?
Or is it not meant to be that serious?

Date: 2005-01-19 01:00 pm (UTC)There are over a hundred studies that prove this. But most of these studies are stuck in thick books full of medical jargon or they're hidden in medical journals that, well, most people don't read every day. So most women are entirely unaware. I'm a journalist, so it's my job to hunt this research down.
Now, the reason you can have a "hormone horoscope" is because women's hormones follow a month-long cycle of ups and downs. Like the planets and stars in astrology, every day, these hormonal ups and downs have different effects on all the aspects of your day. What's more, these hormonal ups and downs repeat in the same way every cycle. So you can actually predict with amazing accuracy what a certain day of your menstrual cycle will be like.
For instance, today I'm Day 18. I'm still experiencing "pre-PMS", which is like PMS only shorter and less intense. So, descending estrogen and testosterone has me feeling kinda cranky. But I also know at some point today my estrogen will be climbing and I'll be feeling good again. And rising progesterone will be making me mellow.
Of course, beside mood, because of 28 Days I also know what to expect from all the other aspects of my Day 18, too, including my verbal skills (progesterone will be interrupting my speech so I have that "tip of the tongue" feeling), relationship (I'm feeling cranky toward my mate now, but once estrogen rises, caretaking progesterone will take over and I'll be feeling lovey-dovey again), sex (progesterone squashes libido and makes it more difficult to orgasm), and money (descending estrogen makes me cautious about spending). There's lots more, but I won't bore you with every single way hormones affect Day 18 here. It's in the book.
The book is titled 28 Days because the publisher felt women would relate to that title more than, say, Period :) But this book is for women who have any length menstrual cycle. You can even be taking hormone contraceptives or skipping periods to have it work for you.
I hope this answers your questions. If not, let me know!
