Jan. 23rd, 2005 03:22 amOK someone please help, I'm really worried
Ok I am 16 and sexually active. This will be the end of my third month of being on Lo/Ovral (this is the first time I've been on birthcontrol) I am on my period right now and will start my new pack tomorrow. But tonight I thought my nipples looked a little bigger then normal so I was seeing if I felt any lumps or anythign but when I pushed clear stuff came out of my nipples and then I like pushed more becuase I was like what the heck and then it turned sort of a milky color. And it comes out of both of my nipples but only when I squeeze them, this has never happened before. I did have unprotected sex when I was on my last period.
I'm just really worried, if someone could help me, it would be greatly appreciated.
And also I can't exactly talk to my doctor about it because I don't have a doctor, my mom is a medical assitant and brought it home and insisted that i take it. And I still tell her that I am not having sex.

Date: 2005-01-23 03:30 am (UTC)When I was your age up until I had my first child 3 years later... I had that clear discharge from my nipples. Some days it wss clear, some days it was milky...but I was never pregnant, as I only had a girlfriend all through high school. I was a virgin to men until I was 18, and the discharge started around 15 or 16 for me. It happened a lot at first, and then slowly tapered off to where it just didn't happen anymore. Since you did have unprotected sex, I would still buy a pregancy test, because you should know for sure. No matter how many people comment on this saying that you're not pregant, a test is the only real way to know. There should also be some kind of Crisis Pregnancy Center in your town or nearby. These places offer free pregnancy tests and are very sweet. I've used them before. Whatever the outcome, I wish the very best of luck to you.

Date: 2005-01-23 05:16 am (UTC)The reason I know this is because several years ago I had milky fluid leaking from my nipples. I was sexually active and thought for sure the breast fluid meant I was pregnant. Not so--it was a problem with my pituitary gland. It turned out to not be a big deal, and medical treatment cleared the whole thing up.
If the pregnancy test comes back negative, I recommend you find a doctor. Simple tests can determine the cause of the breast fluid.
Good luck!

Date: 2005-01-23 09:55 am (UTC)on another topic... if you are having sex, and your mom clearly believes that you are since she's making you take the pill, then why not tell her the truth? she's clearly the kind of mom who would be cool with it, and if you have any problems in the future like infections or other vagina-related stuff, it will make the talk much easier. also, if you are sexually active, you should think about scheduling your first gynecological exam. it's an important step for your health, and there really should be a doctor aware of the fact that you're on the pill, since there are various side effects and things.
