I just joined- hello ladies! I am wondering if anyone has good suggestions for the pill. I took ortho-tri-cyclen when I was 19 or so for 9 months and it made me terribly depressed-most mornings were spent crying. I then switched to something starting with an "m" (don't remember the full name) that was supposed to have lowr estrogen levels but it didn't really help. after being of birth control for a few months my dispostion returned to normal. this month I was about a week later than I expected, and was afraid that I might have been pregnant cuz my honey and I weren't as cautious as we should have been. Has anyone else had this (depression caused by the pill?) Also, if anybody knows, how long it takes after you stop taking the pill until you are able to concieve? We would like to try in a couple or few years, but not until then. Thank you!

well i was on depo (the shot) and i got depressed and my matabolism took a nose dive. i'm still screwed up by alot of it.

if you dont want kids still for a couple years you'll be ok. my doctor told me to wait at least a year to make sure my body cleaned itself of everything and i got back into wack.

alot of my friends waited for at least a year too and they are fine and babies are fine too. but i'd ask your doctor about these concerns.

I'm on ortho-tricyclen and during the second week of pills I get extremely moody. Some months it's worse than others.

i know a bunch of people here seem to have "pill horror stories"... and for some people it just seems the thing is in finding the right brand of pill, others seem sensitive enough that they all will do it. (i never had depressive problems--from the pill that is--so i suppose i'm lucky). however, once you're off the pill, no mater how soon, there is a chance you'll get pregnant! why do i say this? remember in those little tiny-print packets that nobody else really reads, it says that if you skip more than 2 or 3 pills in a row, you can be pregnant so use a condom or something? well, quitting is skipping *way* more than three pills in a row... just what i'd think.

i'm tired. pardon the incoherency, please?

I was on the pill and for a few months my depression was horrible. i was always moody and crying. I'm off of it now and can say that my attitude and depression has changed pretty drastically. No one told me that it was a possible side effect.
