I've been reading the responses that came up in regards to the question asked about having sex during your period. It's quite interesting how MORE questions came up from the original one, but I guess that's what this forum is about.

Why shouldn't you do yoga during your period? : Well, there's nothing to say that you can not. Wether you should or should not really depends on your body. I tell some people to go ahead, if they have NO OTHER PROBLEMS. The reasons why it can effect your body are simple: studies show that hormone levels change during and immediately after performing yoga. The different positions of the body also change the circulation of your blood, spending several seconds or minutes in certain positions can redirect blood flow (which is why some people experience less cramping or more cramping then others, why yoga can give some people headaches... ect). I don't know how accurate the ascertion that "yoga can cause endometriosis" is. I can see the logic behind it, but if you follow that logic, it really eliminates alot of other activities.

YES YES YES!! I read someone's comment about peeing after sex!! This is the easiest way to avoid a UTI after sex (regardless of WHAT phase of the month your in!). Actually, if you want to be even more dilligent (and you can physically do it! :) ) It's best to urinate before and after sex. Obviously if you're only having a "quickee", this might be hard to accomplish. But, you should never have sex with a full bladder AND you should void soon after sex. Voiding pushes all the bacteria that may have been introduced into the urethra OUT. Also, the urine has a cleansing effect. Also, be sure to wipe FRONT TO BACK after sex... if you have to "clean up" the semen left behind. You don't want to drag bacteria from the vaginal area into the urethra. Rarely does this happen, but it's not impossible! :)

The only poses you should avoid during your menses are inverted poses. There are some poses that are actually very therapuetic during your period, but they are too difficult for me to describe without actually showing.
