Warning: graphic and I dont know how to cut

Ok, since having my son (19 months ago) and getting my period back (7 months ago) the first day of my period has been REALLY heavy. Im talking, an ounce and sometimes more in one day heavy...with the remaining 4 or so days being no more than spotty. This moon, I woke up SOAKED...went into the bathroom to wash up and get a mamapad. I sat on the loo, and drained whatever was left inside, and when I got up and turned around to flush, it looked like someone had been murdered in my toilet. I use cloth pads, and can usually go most all day, even on heavy days, without changing. My pads are very very absorbent hemp french terry and fleece backed. About 2 hours later, I had been sitting on the sofa nursing my boy, and he fell asleep. I scootched him off of my lap and onto the sofa beside me, and stood up to go do some cleaning. I could feel myself draining onto my pad, and didnt think a thing of it, until I knelt down to pick up something from the floor....I proceeded to soak right through the pad, my undies and my jeans, down my leg...it was really a nasty bleed through. I went to the bathroom again, to find that my pad had been SOAKED. Im betting there were 2 ounces of fluid all together there.
I wake up this morning, and Im still bleeding profusely. I don't feel sick or shakey or anything...but JEEZUS. And, Im crampy as hell..and dont usually get cramps at all. Am I going to bleed to death? lol

I've never been pregnant, but I get heavy bleeding days like that too. If you're worried see your Dr, but for the most part I'm guessing that it's all hormonal balance.
Every three or four months I have a period that soaks a pad an hour for about four days.
I saw my Dr, had test after test, and it's just the way my hormonal cycle goes.

Sounds nasty. My sympathies.

I'm on my period at the moment, and I'm bleeding far more heavily today than I usually do. But last month I had a really light period for some reason.

I gave birth to my second son, about 15 months ago. About 5 months I ago I started having super-heavy periods like you described.

My doc, didn't think there was anything to particularly worry about. Although she did recommend eating iron rich food, as it is within the realms of possibility that super-heavy periods might deplete your iron reserves.

i'm going to agree with the commenter above. i'm anemic (low iron) and have REALLY heavy periods. it's known that if you have anemia, you better be ready for ungodly periods. so yeah...more iron!

<3 good luck!
