Ok. So I got my period this month, right on time... :D

However, since I got it I've been having cramps, which are A LOT more severe when I have a tampon in. I'm kind of curious as to why this is happening. And it's only if I've been sitting for a long period of time [ie: in class]... could it be that I am simply putting them too far up? [Although ~ I've been using them for a good 4 years now (I'm only 17) and this has never happened]

Also, I've had a bit of a migrain for 2 days now [it was REALLY had yesterday, not so bad today]... and I was just wondering if anyone else had had this happen before. Prior to going on the patch I never had anything like this, no cramps, no headaches - nothing. And now each month my period become more and more painful [I guess that's a good word to use].

Any thoughts? Any ideas to help make the stupid headache go away - because tylenol isn't working.

On a completely nonperiod related note, although completely related to my crappy symptom things... my friend just found out she has mono, and insists she got it from me, although to my knowledge I don't have mono. I had pneumonia a few months ago and never got better, and she had the flu and never got better and that's how she found out she has mono... so yeah, that would suck ~ no?

You should talk to your doctor or local clinic (where ever you got the patch from) about your migraines. A lower estrogen dose might help. Migraines are serious things, you don't have to suffer with them. There are a lot of different types of pills out there, don't settle.

Mine was like that. I used to have really irregular periods and NO pms. It would just pop up at random with no warning at all. As I got older it started coming more regularly, but also getting heavier & more painful. You might want to talk to a doctor about hormonal birth control to regulate your period and make it less painful.

Yeah sucks for your friend, but mono is highly contagious so chances are that she got it from someone else because if YOU had mono, you'd know it. I had pneumonia 2 years ago and STILL have a cough as a result of my lungs never healing properly but even if your pneumonia symptoms remained severe and you had mono ALSO (which isn't really likely if you were on meds) you would know it because mono & pneumonia have different symptoms.

You really should talk to your doctor about switching brands. It sounds like you're not reacting well to the patch. Migraines won't go away with tylenol- they're a different type of headache and also need to be discussed with your doctor.

Feel better.

I'd strongly advise you to see a doctor ASAP. Getting migraines while on the patch could mean you are adversely reacting with increased blood pressure. This can be quite serious if not looked after.

The other thing is, if you are noticing more painful cramps when using tampons, you might want to stop using them, at least for a while, and see if your symptoms subside at all. You didn't mention how long you keep each tampon in, but it's always a good idea to regularly change them - even if they're not completely soaked.

the crampage you mentioned, is because you havnt stretched your muscles. when you're sitting in class your stomach muscles are free to ache. believe it or not keeping active while on your period reduces cramps and so does drinking a lot of water. dont ask me why, but it helps.
