the period from hell
Mar. 18th, 2001 11:31 amok, so it's been a week and three days since i started. and it shows no sign of slacking off. i've already gone through all my "feminine products," and have to go back out to the store today to pick up more. i was hoping my keeper would come in before i ran out, so i could give it a try. nothing yet, though. :( but the way this cycle is going, i'm sure it will get here before i'm done.
this is almost as bad as my first period after i had my son. no more depo for me!!
on another note, has anyone heard of the method called "extraction"? has anyone tried it? it sounds like a pretty drastic method to avoid cramps. then again, mine have never been severe (thank god). just curious!

Date: 2001-03-18 11:19 am (UTC)I found this:

Menstrual Extraction
by Janis Cortese
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Menstrual extraction:
can be used to remove menstrual blood all at once in cases of inconveniently timed periods, and
can be used to effect low-risk early abortions.
Menstrual extraction is a process by which menstrual blood is evacuated from the uterus by use of an airtight, hand-operated suction device. It can also be used in cases of very early low risk pregnancy, to perform abortions without anaesthesia and with lower risk of infection and complications than the standard dilation-curettage method. It is often an outpatient procedure, sometimes performed in the home by a trained medical professional. In cases of extraction abortion, most patients have stated that it is far more comfortable and less painful than a standard dilation-curettage procedure.

Date: 2001-03-18 04:33 pm (UTC)I just got off depo myself, and started on the pill to have regular periods, but mine are not that severe. I used to have real heavy bleeding with my periods and monster cramps, but my doctor put me on BC pills that are low in estrogen. I had my period a week ago and I barely noticed it - it was really light and I had no cramping. Talk to your doctor about it, you could probably get similar pills.
