hi, i'm new here..

i was just wondering what the reasons for a late/missed period are? (apart from pregnancy). i'm 18, i've been having mine for 5 years. for the last 3 months it's been bang on time, 28 days. before that it was usually between 23 to 26 days. now it's a week late and i've never been late before, ever, and it's making me worried, and although really there's not much chance i could be pregnant (although ofcourse i'm becoming panicked and thinking irrational things like 'well i was really drunk that night, what if i did have sex?' and it's stressing me out a lot..)

i'm just wondering at what point i might need to go and see a doctor about it, and if it's even necessary? i suppose stress might be part of it, and ofcourse the thought of being pregnant isn't doing anything to help.

thanks for any advice.

has the weather changed where you live? i know it sounds odd, but changes in temperature seem to affect both the timeliness and the flow of my periods. it could be just me, but it's something i've noticed.

anyway, buy a pregnancy test (use it at the drugstore bathroom if you're afraid of anyone finding it) and put your mind at ease. i've found that usually w/in a few hours of taking one and seeing that i'm NOT pregnant, my period starts right up...lol.

good luck.

To calm your nerve, drink tea and take a test. Most of the time your period is late because of stress. Either when you normally ovulate or when you should be menstrating. A combo of both can really put it off. Doing things that will calm you down, like a good exorsise, bath, tea, getting things done that you procrastinated on, ect will help it come if you are not preggers. Taking the test will let you know for sure and then you can think back on your actions and find out when it could have happened. But don't think about that until you have come up positive. If you do, then go to a clinic and tell them what happened. They will give you another test to make sure that it wasn't a false.
But most likely, it is stress. It is that time of the year for a lot of students if you are. I would not be surprised if mine came late because I have been über stressed lately and I am supposed to ovulate around now.

[livejournal.com profile] amipregnant might help. also, if you're getting drunk enough to not be sure about sex, eeeep. or maybe that was a joke and i'm not seeing it in written word? in any case, take a deep breath, have some tea, and look into a test if you're still late in a few days.

if your test is neg, and you still don't get it, go to the doc. do you have any pain or anything? might be something like endometriosis that could mess with your cycles. i have it, and i'm on the pill, but before i was on it, i would sometimes not get it for long periods of time.
