[identity profile] berrybuzz.livejournal.com posting in [community profile] menstrualhut
I've recently joined this community and as I looked over the memories and browsing websites, I had a question...

when you go to www.keeper.com it offers two choices:
Diva Cup
The Keeper

The Diva Cup looks like it has a shorter knob/tab on the bottom, and is made of clear silicone rather than a red rubber.
Beyond that, I'm not seeing a difference from the websites...

Have any of you used both?  if so, which do you prefer and why?

yep, that's pretty much the differences. [livejournal.com profile] menstrual_cups and [livejournal.com profile] vaginapagina both have memories/archives on this topic, as well.

i've used both. they're very similar, but about 8 months into using the keeper, i started to develop a slight latex allergy which made insertion and removal VERY painful. i was told that left untreated, mild latex allergies usually progress to more severe problems, so i've since switched to the divacup and am quite happy.

the stem on the keeper is longer, but i cut mine down anyway.

anyway, if you suspect you have ANY sensitivity to latex, i recommend the divacup.

^ what she said. The keeper website mentions that if you have latex allergies/sensitivities, you should not use it. Diva cup is made from silicon, so there's no risk of allergy.

Not only that, but because it is medical grade silicone, it is really easy to completely disinfect, like boiling, which I do in the microwave with salt and vinager added to the water after my period and a strait water boil before.

And I think the Diva Cup is a little cheaper, too! ;-)

Pushing the DC? I don't think so.
