Commentary would be greatly appreciated..
Apr. 8th, 2005 11:49 pmHi.. err.. well, this is kinda akward, but I'll just say it, because, hell, this is a community about menstruation and related things.
Well, my situation actually involves more of a lack thereof..
I'm only fifteen. I'm a virgin. There's no way I could be pregnant (unless I'm the next Virgin Mary).
I'm normally on about a 33 day cycle, or at least I start about 33 days after the day I started my last period, if that makes any sense to anyone.
But the deal is, it's been about fifty days since I last had a period. I'm pretty sure my last one started February 18thish. I didn't have one for all of March, and that's when I started to worry. I haven't really had any cramps or anything, either.
I visited my endocrinologist yesterday for something unrelated, and I asked about it, and she said it wasn't too abnormal to miss your period for a month. But I'm not so convinced.
I'm also insulin intollerant, which she said might have something to do with it. In addition to this, I've been under a bunch of stress recently (band competitions, "Hell Week" in school [about half my week was full of half nighters for projects and most of the weekend was, too], etc.), which I've heard can contribute. And to top it off, I haven't been eating as much as I should, probably (not anorexic--I just have been so busy that I don't have the time, and I try to sleep in as late as possible and often don't have the time in the mornings, and lunch sucks..), and that could have something to do with it?
I've talked to my mom, but I've found it's not as much help as I wished for. So I turned to this community.
Any and all help would be so very greatly appreciated. Anyone who has any advice or answers.. I'll love you forever. I'm sorry if this question gets asked all the time, too. :\ Just kinda freaking out over here..
Thanks again so much.

You need to eat, hon. I mean it. Not eating is probably a major factor here. One of the signs of anorexia nervosa is not having a period. I'm not saying you are, but significant weight loss can mess with your hormones. Good luck!

Date: 2005-04-09 05:52 am (UTC)Stress can definitely cause your hormones to fluctuate, and if you are busy enough to not have time to eat, I would say both are culprits. Just take care of yourself, and do not worry too much over it.
Eventually it will regulate itself out. Mine did so when I started paying close attention to my body and its cycle.

Date: 2005-04-11 06:30 pm (UTC)I know that saying "relax!" doesn't make it any easier for you to actually relax. But if you *can* find a way to eat a little more regularly (granola bars or apples or whatever that can be carried with you and grabbed on your way out the door are great) that wouldn't be a bad thing, of course!
