Apr. 14th, 2005 06:05 pmWhat a great idea for a community! I'm glad to see that there are so many menstrual positive people out there.
A little bit about myself: I'm a 20 year old university student, completing a double major of English and Women's Studies. I am part of a pro-choice group at my school.
I have always enjoyed visiting the MUM and started using Instead about a year ago. I am also concerned about the environment so I wash them carefully after each use. It also saves a lot of money!
I recently became aware of the "femstruation" movement and it is truly wonderful that there is such positivity towards menstruation. Although I have had painful periods since I was about 11, I have always enjoyed having my period and carrying that "sweet secret" around with me.

Date: 2005-04-14 11:36 pm (UTC)Yes, there are so many communities out there on LJ that are promoting that boyish lifestyle. Physically (skinny and lanky) and emotionally (hating their bodies functions). Its definitly a breath of relief to see real women appreciating themselves.
Having a uterus is like being VIP.

Date: 2005-04-15 02:08 am (UTC)I have, however, been looking into transgender and transexual issues, and people who are not comfortable with their uterus and its workings. I think it's equally as important to understand people who are not okay with menstruation, and do not want to bleed, or perhaps simply do not identify as female, though born female. Do you agree?
I am glad to see another person on this community. Welcome.
