Hey,

I just recently joined the women's rugby team at my college, and rugby is a contact sport where I tackle and get tackled. after joining rugby, i sometimes discharge blood in between my periods and it's usually more blood after games where i tackle harder/get tackled harder. is this normal? bad? good?

I used to do Tae Kwon Do, and on days when I sparred, ran hard or in general had a rough work-out, I would get some blood. I am not sure if it is normal, but it happened to me on more than one occasion.

Seems when there's any rough-n-tumble happening around your lower body (or at least in mine) I get some spotting for a few hours afterwards. Generally it only happens to me after rough-ish sex, but it's happened after really hard workouts too. As long as it stops after a bit (a few hours, whatever) I wouldn't worry too much. Although, it wouldn't be a bad idea to have a checkup every few months, just to make sure there isn't any compounding damaage.

Hmmm, im thinking you should definitly get that checked out sometime very soon. I dont think thats normal.

I know of times where i've done mountain biking and that region has been really sore, and i have lost blood, but maybe you should see a doctor because if your losing blood because of impact, on a regular basis might cause problems later in life.
