Anyone out there take Mefenamic Acid for Primary Dysmenorrhea? I've just been prescribed it and I'd like to know whether it has worked for any of you (though obviously it depends on the person) and if you've had any side effects etc :)

I got my first prescription for mefenamic acid about 2 years ago for painful periods and I've found it extremely helpful. As long as I take it early enough it stops my cramps from reaching the vomit inducing stage.

Thank you! That's the exact reason I've been prescribed it - I'm being sick every month because the pain is so bad. I know it varies from person to person but it's nice to know that it works for someone :D

Unfortunately it didn't make any difference for me - though that could be cos of endometriosis problems rather than general period woes.

Many friends swear by it though. Hope it works for you :)
